As I stated above, The Continental Congress was supposed to meet again in this year.Before they could get to, things in the colonies had changed for the worse.Military leaders and colonists were becoming uneasy when local British military leaders seemed to be preparing for action.At this point the governor of Massachusetts had learned that there was a stockpile of weapons in Concord which is about 20 miles from Boston.He decided that he was going to take the weapons Gage(the governor of MA) thought that he had kept this plan a secret, but there were many patriot spies. They noticed that the British were up to something and quickly told the Patriots.Robert Newman was to display one lantern in the steeple of the Old North Church if the British were coming by land, and display two if they were coming by water.Newman displayed two lanterns, and Revere and Dawes set off on horse back to alert the minute men.The minute men get there name because they were ready to fight in a minute.
